Surf’s up dude! Newquay is the Cornish surfing capital of Britain. Fistral Beach is probably the best know beach and it often plays host to international surfing competitions that attract visitors from all over the world. There are plenty of other long sandy beaches nearby making this a great spot for a sun, sea and surf Hen weekend.
Newquay’s resident population is normally only around 20,000 but this swells dramatically in summer as large numbers of people flock here for their holidays (not to mention quite a few Stag and Hen parties). The centre of town has quite a few tacky shops and restaurants but there are a number of good spots if you know where to look. There’s also plenty to explore nearby and Padstow, an idyllic Cornish town made famous by Rick Stein, is a short drive up the coast.
In the evening, it’s time to sip your sundowner and watch the sun disappear over the horizon before hitting the town to meet some of those surfers. Newquay comes alive at night and the bars and clubs here have a fantastic atmosphere. This is one sexy seaside resort!
