Although it's located on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea, Riga offers a warm welcome for any Stag weekend. It is a bit off the beaten track but in our view this makes it all the better as it will be a truly unique experience for most people.
The biggest city in the Baltic States, Riga is the capital of Latvia and has a distinctly cosmopolitan air, which reflects its position between Scandinavia and Russia. Baltic, Russian and Swedish influences produce a fascinating melting pot of a city. It would certainly be foolish to limit yourself to night-time activities - Riga demands to be seen in all its glory. The Old Town is classified is a UNESCO world heritage site and the city is particularly renowned for its Art Noveau architecture. Visit St Peter's Church and take a lift to the top for a magnificent view of the city.
That's not to say that the night has nothing to offer. Far from it, Latvian people love to party and Riga is renowned as the nightlife capital of the Baltic States - it is packed full of pubs, clubs and strip joints. There are also plenty of places to eat and the local beer is fantastic. Not to mention the beautiful girls - seriously, we started noticing them on the plane before we even left the UK!
As well as being a top class destination it is also cheap! If you are on a budget then Riga is the place for you as booze, food and other necessities (yes OK, strippers), come in well below other favourite destinations. So what are you waiting for? It's time to have it large in Latvia!
