Anthony Gormley's iconic Angel of the North seems to highlight Newcastle's re-birth after the decline of its heavy industries. These days, Newcastle is a vibrant, energetic city that has moved onwards and upwards. There's no doubt that Geordies are hardy people and you've gotta love the lasses here - wearing skimpy little outfits even in sub-zero temperatures. Gawd bless ya!

In Newcastle, having a good night on the 'toon' is almost a religion. As a result, there's a huge range of bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants to choose from. Many of them concentrated around the Bigg Market and the Quayside area of the city centre. The Geordies party like no-one else and it's sheer mayhem on the weekends. If you like your nightlife raw and unpretentious then this is the place to be.

If you manage to see daylight on your Stag weekend, there's a huge range of activities to choose from including kayaking, quad biking and white water rafting. Newcastle, ah it's mint man!!
