Away from the sea, try taking a walk down Las Ramblas, a tree-lined boulevard famous for its street entertainers. Make sure you pop into the El Bosc de les Fades Bar next to the Wax Museum - a truly bizarre place made up to look like an enchanted forest! Football crazy stags should not miss a visit to Camp Nou, home of FC Barcelona - a true cathedral of sport and an awe-inspiring sight. If you are lucky enough to be there on a match day then get tickets - they are cheap by English standards and the massive stadium rarely sells out.

Barcelona is especially famed for its nightlife. After dark the city comes alive - but be warned, Barcelona is huge, so basing yourself in one particular area is a good idea. The Olympic Port area is a pretty safe bet as it has a range of excellent restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Whatever you do, don't miss the delicious tapas that can be found all over the city - a way of eating that was designed with drinking in mind - perfect!
